Police confirmed that multiple people were killed and several wounded in a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in San José.

The event was reported around 6:30 am, at the VTA’s Guadalupe maintenance building located in the 100 W. Younger Avenue and San Pedro Street area, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities confirmed that the person suspected of the shooting was killed.

Mayor Sam Liccardo published through his Twitter account that the injured people are being treated by medical personnel, while VTA workers were evacuated.

Sheriff officials assured that so far it is unknown whether the shooting took place inside or outside the premises of the place and the reasons for it.

The sheriff’s office set up a reunification center for family members and VTA employees located at 70 West Hedding.

Among the victims are employees of that government entity, said the police spokesman.

The perpetrator of the shooting has died, but the police have not yet explained the circumstances of his death.

The police went to the scene of the crime after receiving several calls from neighbors to the emergency number 911 to alert what was happening.
