The night of The Oscars summer for all at once everywhere. Daniels’ film arrived at the Dolby Theater gala as the most nominated (with 11 nominations) and left as the overall winner. The tape is mounted with seven awardsincluding recognitions in the main categories – Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
michelle yeothe lead role in the film, won Best Actress, beating Cate Blanchett and becoming the first Asian performer to win an Oscar. Brendan Fraser beat Austin Butler in the battle for the Oscar for Best Actor and the Oscar for Best Animated Feature went, predictably, to Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro.
It was an evening without surprises, the other big winner of which was the German film No news at the front, which won four statuettes, including Best International Film. The Oscar for Best Original Song went to Bollywood Naatu Naatuin front of which Lady Gaga and Rihanna could not.
