A crane crashed into a pole in Malibu on Wednesday, toppling over, knocking down power lines and killing its operator.
According to reports from the scene, downed power lines started a small fire in the brush area and trapped the driver inside the overturned crane.
The accident caused the closure of the Pacific Coast Highway from Las Flores Canyon Road to Hume Road, a department official said.
The name of the crane operator has not been released by authorities.
