A few weeks ago, it was announced that “One Piece” was going to have a new kind of show to continue expanding its horizons as entertainment: ice skating. Indeed, Eiichiro Oda’s franchise will test new waters, in this case icy ones, to represent its story in a truly original way. Besides, it has been confirmed what could not be otherwise: to represent the king of pirates, there will be Shoma Uno, the current king of skaters.

Besides, keep in mind the following things about what this show will be like:
- To begin with, it is important to take into account that the show as such will receive the name of ‘A play on Ice: Alabasta Episode‘, so we can have the intuition that it will adapt to this part of the history of the anime / manga at most.
- On the other hand, it was also confirmed at the time that there would be two specific “dates” to see the show from One Piece on Ice:
- In Yokohama from August 11 to 13.
- In Nagoya on days 2 and 3 September.
- This is the first time for a ‘One Piece on Ice’, at this point it has not been revealed if there will be more dates later, if the show will take international lands or if it intends to adapt more fragments of Eiichiro Oda’s story. It is possible that many of these decisions to be made will end up depending on the reception of the first.
Life is full of coincidences, and personally, I had never seen a world ice skating championship before… until one lazy afternoon of huge kicks on tour in Amsterdam led me to connect precisely with the ice skating world championship itself. The championship was won by Shoma Uno (in the end, if you don’t know Dutch, you can’t do much more than watch sports). Obviously, I have 0 knowledge of the sport, but I found Shoma Uno amazing, and I’m sure his performance as Luffy will be memorable.
