It seems like today’s thieves need to get creative to carry out their thefts, and this is what happened in the Apple store in the Alderwood mall, in Lynnwood (Washington).
From this store, 463 iPhone units were stolen, along with an undisclosed number of iPads and smartwatches. In total, the stolen goods worth around $500,000almost nothing.
Two thieves broke into the mall’s “Coffee Gear” store, which sells coffee-making equipment and accessories such as espresso machines, coffee makers, grinders, coffee beans and more, and they broke into the store by punching a hole in one of the toilet wallswhich allowed them to bypass their alarm system.
As you can see, all very peliculero. Looking at the plans of the center, it is not at all obvious that the cafeteria and the Apple store are side by side, which means that the thieves could have obtained the mall plans in advance to plan the heist.
This thought was backed up by cafeteria manager Eric Marks, who had this to say: “I never would have suspected that we were wall to wall with the Apple Store. So it only remains to think that someone had access to the design of the mall“.
Police have recovered the surveillance tapes, but as part of an ongoing investigation, no further details can be released at this time. the apple shop had no employees inside at the time of the theftsince the mall was closed at night.
Nothing was removed from the ‘Coffee Gear’ store, but fixing the hole in the wall and the broken locks will cost the store around $1,500. Marks added that based on how the burglars were able to get through the cafeteria bathroom wall without hitting any pipes, this theft had a lot of research behind.
On Twitter, Mike Atkinson, CEO of “Coffee Gear”, said that a surveillance video shows that it took less than 15 minutes for the two thieves enter and exit the two stores.
A spokesperson for the company that owns the mall said that the owners of the mall are “angry“for the incident, and”working with lynnwood police“. He also called the incident a isolated eventand praised its robust security system.
Apple Store employees didn’t learn of the theft until the next morning.. Local police called it a well-organized operation, saying no fingerprints were left. Apple has yet to comment on the theft.but many thanks and we advance that you should not have done them.
