Authorities in the Bronx are searching for a suspect who pushed a young passenger onto the train tracks in the New York City subway on Saturday morning.
The 26-year-old man was walking on the platform at the East 149th Street and South Boulevard station at approximately 11:50 a.m. when an unknown subject approached him.
In a video released on Sunday, it can be seen how the unidentified attacker approached the victim and pushed him onto the tracks shortly before the arrival of a 6 train. Immediately, the offender fled the scene.
Witnesses to the event ran to help the young man get on the subway platform before the train arrived at the station.
The New York police announced that the victim had injured legs and needed to be taken to an assistance center for treatment.
The suspect was dressed in a bubble jacket and black and white patterned pants.
This incident is the latest in a wave of unprovoked violent attacks in New York City that has left residents concerned about the high rate of insecurity in the Big Apple.
Officials released images of the suspect and asked the public with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
