NEW YORK – A vehicle crossing Washington Heights in Manhattan suddenly lost control and struck several pedestrians on Thursday.

The crash happened at the intersection of West 190th Street and Broadway around 6:10 p.m.

A total of six people were injured and the victims were identified as four adults and two 3-year-old children.

Each of the victims was transported to area hospitals in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot, but returned and was taken into custody. It was not specified why he left the scene.

Police do not know why the driver lost control of the vehicle.
