As soon as the anime was announced”NieR: Automata Ver1.1a“I think we all had a similar reaction: hype and fear. Indeed, hype because it implied that one of the best video games in history was back in action but in a format never before seen in the franchise. And fear because knowing the story and gameplay implications of the original title, there were a lot of doubts about how it was going to play out. it’s clear that doing a 1:1 representation of the video game was always out of the question.

Does the NieR: Automata anime hit the bull’s eye with its proposal?

Before saying whether or not the anime succeeds with what it does, it’s obviously time to review what does “NieR:Automata Ver1.1a” do that sets it apart from the video game it adapts:

  • Basically, it’s become clear that it’s not just about Lily anymore, but about the anime takes care to introduce several lore characters from NieR: Automata that those of us who originally played the video game are constantly caught off guard.
  • But where do these anime characters come from? Are they completely original to the adaptation? Well, the truth is that it is not, and although it may seem strange to someone faces you don’t know are just as hot as faces you know.
It’s more than possible that if you haven’t seen the anime, you don’t know these androids at all
  • Basically, to create the story of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, what is done is take a bit of all the material created regarding NieR: Automata. Yes, I’m talking about interweaving story content ranging from video game manga to stage performances.
  • That is what we see This is NOT NieR: Automata ‘the video game’ anime, we are watching NieR: Automata ‘the saga’ anime. It is a collection of all the main stories that have been created for the video game in question, because as you well know, all this history of Lily, the resistant androids and the YorHa that accompany them are never seen in the game

Personally, I must conclude that the path taken by history is one that I like it more than just making an accurate depiction of a story I already know. All in all, the biggest and most epic moments of “NieR: Automata” to date have been VERY well represented in “NieR: Automata Ver1.1a”, so I’m not going to complain if they expand the universe in the process. with REAL things that I didn’t even know existed. Of course, what piques my curiosity most now is how will this anime end and if you plan to do more.
