This Saturday, Raziel Domingo Madrigal appeared in court in handcuffs and heard charges against him for the alleged attempted sexual abuse of a young woman in a bathroom in bustling downtown Brickell during a incident that happened last Thursday.
Today we went back to the mall and went up to the second floor restroom where the scandalous event allegedly happened in which Madrigal allegedly entered through the door, approached the victim, fought with her and although she managed to pull down her pants, she did not achieve her goal, according to the police report.
The report says the victim screamed and struggled against the man. He wanted to get out, but Madrigal tried to pull his pants down, until two people entered the bathroom and he could get rid of his attacker. Both witnesses saw the man grabbing the victim. One of them hit him on the chin until he let go of the woman. The two detained the defendant until the police arrived.
During his court hearing, the inmate said the only thing he remembered was being beaten in a bathroom.
The traumatic scene will be hard for the victim to forget, but she’s not the only one who was shocked, as Yara Igolnikova, the manager of ‘Maje’ at Brickell City Center, says she was shocked after what happened .
The manager of a business in the shopping center says she is “afraid to think that this experience could happen to one of her employees or to another woman around her”.
And although through a statement from the Brickell City Center they have assured that security is maintained in all spaces for their tenants and visitors, this woman who witnessed what happened, insists on the contrary.
Mabel Debeunza, who witnessed the attempted sexual abuse, said “no woman, man, child or family member should enter a bathroom without feeling safe or in fear for their own life”.
Raziel Domingo Madrigal, 28, is currently facing six charges, including kidnapping, assault and attempted rape.
According to the police report, on the second floor of the mall, located at 701 South Miami Avenue near Brickell Avenue, Domingo Madrigal attempted to sexually abuse a young woman while she was in the bathroom, and after closing the door and whispering “someone really dangerous is outside”.
