A man opened fire on officers at a home in northwest Miami-Dade where a one-year-old boy was, police said.

Miami-Dade police officials said the incident occurred while their Special Response Team was assisting Miami police in executing a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of 82 Terrace northeast west of Miami, around 6:30 a.m. this Tuesday, March 14.

Two women cooperated and walked out, but a man inside the house opened fire on officers with a one-year-old boy and a woman in the room, authorities said.

“There was an individual in the master bedroom who was locked inside and as they approached that master bedroom several shots were fired from inside that bedroom,” the doorman said. -Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.

Zabaleta said the officers did not return fire, no one was injured and the man later turned himself in to police.

“The Special Response Team, when involved in these warrants, doesn’t know what they’re going to be dealing with,” Zabaleta said.

The police did not reveal the identity of the person or initially disclose the reasons for the arrest warrant being executed.
