A 28-year-old man is behind bars after being charged with an alleged sexual assault involving a minor at the Pembroke Lakes Mall, police said.
According to the Pembroke Pines Police Department, the suspect identified as Kevin Andrés Rubio met the young woman last Thursday at the Pembroke Lakes Mall.
Police say the victim entered the suspect’s vehicle in the mall parking lot, where the two got involved and engaged in sexual activity.
The report states that after being parked for several minutes, the defendant started his vehicle and drove with the minor to his home in Miramar, where they reportedly spent the night together.
Rubio was arrested by Pembroke Pines Police detectives and transported to the main jail at the Broward Sheriff’s Office as he now faces 6 counts including assault and sexual abuse of a minor between the ages of 12 and 18.
In court, the judge ordered the detainee to stay away from the victim and any other minors under the age of 18.
