A man was arrested Friday in connection with a series of robberies in Lakewood after a brief confrontation.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lakewood Station, received three calls about alarms going off at businesses near the intersection of Woodruff Avenue and South Street, authorities said.

Two additional locations subsequently reported similar thefts.

When officers arrived at the auto zone at 4945 Woodruff Avenue, they saw a blue vehicle with Tennessee license plates stopped in front of a nearby 99 Cents store.

Officers noticed it had broken windows, just like the other locations, authorities said. A man came out of the store and started running.

The suspect escaped and officers created a perimeter at the scene. About an hour later, at 3:22 a.m., officers found the suspect hiding in the yard of a residence at 5843 Silva Street.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s name and age.
