In jail is the suspect in the Thursday attempted rape in downtown Brickell of a 28-year-old woman.

According to the police report, on the second floor of the mall, located at 701 South Miami Avenue near Brickell Avenue, allegedly 28-year-old Raziel Domingo Madrigal attempted to sexually abuse a young woman while she was lying in the bathroom and after he closed the door and whispered “someone really dangerous is outside”.

The report says the victim screamed and struggled against the man. He wanted to get out, but Madrigal tried to pull his pants down, until two people entered the bathroom and he could get rid of his attacker. Both witnesses, the report says, watched the man grab the victim. One of them hit him on the chin until he let go of the woman. The two people held Madrigal until the police arrived.

In a press release this afternoon, a spokesperson for the mall said it was cooperating with the investigation and said “the incident occurred before business hours and was immediately handled by Center Security and the Miami Police Department.”
