How Karol G’s TQG Became a Global Success in Just Four Days

Karol G’s latest release, TQG, is on its way to becoming another worldwide success, much like Shakira’s iconic hits. Within just four days, the song has managed to reach 100 million views on her YouTube channel, and the numbers are only continuing to climb. The Colombians have once again found the key to success in a song that keeps more than one secret.

Behind the Scenes of TQG

Fortunately, Karol G has revealed many hidden aspects of the song that we had not known before the premiere. From the four hours spent in the studio with her co-performer to the fact that she decided to delay the release of her new album, Mañana Ser Bonito, to align with Shakira’s schedule, there are many interesting tidbits to discover.

In statements collected by our colleagues from LOS40 México, La Bichota explained, “It was very nice to share with her, to talk not only about the music, the video, but also to be able to talk with her about stories of her life, of my life, having made this very special bond, and at the end of the day, I think it’s going to be that reality in the song, what’s behind it.”

Karol G revealed that they spent 16 hours a day in a recording studio but did not reveal who the song was dedicated to with names and surnames. Nevertheless, TQG is full of personal life moments and experiences suitable for almost all women.

Explaining further, the Colombian soloist said, “Beyond the fact that there is one for whom, it is the song because it is not for anyone. It is simply that as singers, we write personal stories, of which other women today can identify with the song and heal certain little things.”

The Song That Delayed a Record

The most successful duet of the two Colombian artists in 2023 has changed all the release plans of Karol G, who originally planned to release her album, Mañana Ser Bonito, before TQG. However, the interpreter had to postpone everything to adapt to Shakira’s schedule.

According to Karol G, “She told me to wait for her because she was going to release a song, the session with Bizarrap, for mine to come out later. She wanted the perfect process to remain, in which she wanted to tell a situation through songs, and well, that’s what I did, postponed everything, postponed so that my album would be released on this exact date.”
