After launching the hit Galaxy S20 FE in fall 2020, Samsung inexplicably expected January 2022 to launch its successor, the S21 FE. More inexplicable was that in 2022 there was no model for its “affordable top of the range”, which cutting power at various points reduced its price a lot.
A Fan Edition of last year’s Galaxy S22 filled in the lines with rumors and speculation over the past few monthsbut some leakers had already hinted that its cancellation only needed the Korean company to make it official.
In theory, the S22 FE would still be possible, but with the Galaxy S23s released just over a month ago, Samsung is reportedly focusing on a cheaper model. make the latterand even that seems difficult right now.
All this according to German journalist Roland Quandt, one of the industry’s most credible sources on upcoming mobile phones. Without giving it away, it says it all, Quandt assured that “it doesn’t look like there will be a Galaxy FE this year.”
This leaves the door open for an exit in 2024even if it would be very rare (if not logical) for Samsung to stop production of its Fan Edition range for two full years, to come back with an S23 FE as if nothing had happened.
And what happened to get there? Reports suggest the Galaxy S21 FE wasn’t as successful as the company believed (based on the result of its predecessor), and it becomes palpable that the Korean giant wants drastically reduce the number of telephones different that you put on the market.
There are quite a few rumors about the biggest seller of mobile phones in the world, the most important concerning the next year’s Galaxy A25 canceleddate when the Galaxy A74 would return, which does not seem to be released this year.
It doesn’t make much sense to cancel both models, the Galaxy A7x and the Galaxy S2x FE, in the same year, but with the Galaxy A54 (which this year seems to cost something more) and the permanent discounts that the S22 has received Thanks to the release of the new generation, the catalog of Samsung seems rather well covered.
But if there’s one thing analysts agree on, it’s that Samsung is somewhat lacking in representation in the battle for the best mid-range phoneso a Galaxy S23 FE that sees the light of day in 2024 would help in that regard.
Ideally, it would come out before the Galaxy S24so that the same thing as last year does not happen again, having to push back the date of the premium line by a month and that it does not coincide with the launch of the Fan Edition model.
