Taylor Swift is set to kick off her much-anticipated tour, The Eras Tour, this March. After five long years since her last tour, fans are excited to see her perform again in stadiums across North America for over six months. With this tour being the biggest one yet, it’s sure to be a memorable experience for everyone attending.
In addition to the tour, fans are also eagerly anticipating the release of a new re-recording. The Bejeweled music video has hinted that Speak Now and 1989 could be the next albums in line for re-recording. Swifties have been scouring social media and the music video for clues to confirm their theories.
But why is it plausible for Taylor Swift to release a new album before the tour starts? As with any concert, the days before and after the show mean an increase in streaming figures. Fans prepare for the concert by listening to songs that may appear on the setlist, which could include songs from the unreleased re-recordings. This could lead to a boost in the streaming figures for those songs, ultimately benefiting Taylor in her fight to retain ownership of her music.
With four out of the six re-recordings yet to be released, many of Swift’s early songs still don’t belong to her. By releasing new recordings of her songs, she can regain ownership of her music and stop others from profiting off her hard work.

March 2 (written as 3/2 in the American format) is the date fans have pointed to as the announcement date for Speak Now’s re-recording, with the album dropping on March 3. Taylor Swift celebrated her 33rd birthday on December 13 and shared a studio photo with Jack Antonoff, where she made the number 33 with her hands. Separating the hands could mean the release date for Speak Now (TV) on March 3.
