A 79-year-old man from San Bernardino who was crossing the border to deliver donations to low-income people was found beaten to death in Tijuana.

Rudy Loza’s children do not know why and for now they leave him in the hands of the Mexican authorities.

The last recording Mr. Lazo made on his Facebook page showed him distributing the donations he took from San Bernardino to Tijuana for communities in need.

“He was always a very generous person, helpful to everyone,” said Juan Carlos Lazo, Rudy’s son.

Now, these images also bring sadness to learn that Mr. Lazo was murdered a day later.

“Seeing him in these videos is very beautiful, it’s like he was there in front of one,” said Claudia Hernández, the victim’s daughter.

Mr. Lazo was found dead in Tijuana on April 19.

The US Department of State maintains travel advisories for Mexico to inform US citizens about the safest parts of the Latin American country.

“It’s very dangerous there, there’s a lot of danger that he might never have thought he would find himself in danger as an older person,” Hernández said.

According to Mexican authorities, they believe the van and its belongings were stolen, as they were lost. They also confirmed that he had been beaten to death.

“He didn’t deserve this, the truth is he didn’t, I don’t think any human being deserves this,” Juan Carlos said.

Juan Carlos remembered his father as a man full of life and a great dancer.

She loved to dance, sing and before retiring she loved driving her cargo truck.

In recent years, Juan Carlos and Claudia had moved away from him because of family disputes, and today they regret it.

“What I didn’t tell them in life, well, I told them from the bottom of my heart, to forgive me, and that I hadn’t failed him at his last moment,” Juan Carlos said.

“Wanting to hug him and tell him how much I love him and forgive me for walking away from him,” Hernández added.

Mr. Lazo lived in the San Bernardino area, but is originally from El Salvador, where he will be buried.
