We love it when our favorite artists get together in the studio to record. Magic flows, genres coexist and music is born. From Torture from Shakira and Alejandro Sanz to Mom of Karol G and Becky G, crossing this incredible cute little eyes from Bad Bunny and Bomba Stereo: the collaborations contribute and add up (at least in most cases).
But sometimes, even if the artists meet in the studio and record a song, things don’t go well and that song never sees the light of day. A real shame! On other occasions things didn’t go that far and the song was just a proposal, but what a proposal! And it is that we no longer listened to songs that could have gone down in history.
At LOS40, we really like to review a list, we remember six collaborations that never saw the light of day. At least for now! Will any of these come out? features in the light?
Aitana and C. Tangana
Many will remember these images of Aitana and C. Tangana together in the studio. It was 2019: Aitana had just left Operación Triunfo and was positioning herself as one of the revelation artists of the moment. Antón, for his part, already had a career behind him. Although he had yet to reach his peak with El Madrileño, he was already one of the best-known faces in the industry.
The two artists even went so far as to make jokes on social media about the collaboration, creating even more hype. Unfortunately, it never saw the light of day. In 2021, Aitana revealed the real reason the song wasn’t released. And it’s that four years ago I wasn’t ready to tackle a “so daring” subject: “Look, it’s not that I didn’t like it, but it’s very daring. The truth is that it’s a very ‘cool’ song, but the lyrics were too much, and Antón (C. Tangana) knows it. That’s why we decided not to release something like that. It was a really fun two days in the studio with him. I admire him a lot and his latest album is amazing.”
Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande
How we would have liked to see Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa share a melody! Two of the biggest pop stars in the world could have sung a song together. In fact, they were about to.
In 2019, Ariana Grande was fully involved in the soundtrack of the new film of Charlie’s Angels. In addition to launching the themea Don’t call me Angel with Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus, he recorded several songs for the film’s album. One of them was Bad To You, a great song he released with Normani and Nicki Minaj. But did you know that Ariana had conversations with Dua Lipa to record this song?
The British couldn’t do it because at that time she was totally involved in her second studio album: Future Nostalgia. And it is that this great album which was marked deserved all the concentration of the world!
Omar Montes and Bad Gyal
In 2019, Omar Montes and Bad Gyal broke up with Allocation. The song became a hit that did not stop playing in discos. The chorus stuck around for months, being one of the two artists’ biggest hits. What many won’t remember is that the two stars had a song on hold that they recorded alongside this hit.
Finally, as Bad Gyal admitted to us in an interview for LOS40 Urban in 2021, she didn’t come out because she didn’t feel entirely comfortable: “There’s nothing strange, I just didn’t feel so comfortable with this topic. I loved my verses, but I was not comfortable in general. I think it’s good that someone else takes it.”. Of course, he made it clear that there were no bad vibes between them.
Rosalie and Omega
