Orlando Florida. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis asked the Orange-Osceola County District Attorney’s Office for information about the criminal record of the Pine Hills triple murder suspect, where a 38-year-old woman, a 9-year-old girl and a 24-year-old journalist were shot dead last Wednesday.
Ryan D. Newman, general counsel for DeSantis, signed the letter to Monique H. Worrel, U.S. Attorney for the Ninth Circuit.
In the letter, Newman breaks down Keith Moses’ criminal history and asks the prosecution about their role in freeing the 19-year-old despite his criminal record.
“The shocking nature of these horrific acts is hard enough to process, but even more infuriating is the fact that the man who was quickly arrested for these crimes, Moses (aka Keith Moses) was allowed to remain on the streets after multiple arrests, including one his office declined to prosecute. He was also reported as a known gang member with a long history, including aggravated assault, battery and robbery” , indicates the letter.
Additionally, the adviser detailed in the letter that Moses had on file multiple charges of possession of firearms, attempted first degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm and resisting an officer. . Likewise, the fact that the accused for the deaths of the three people was arrested for possession of less than 20 degrees of cannabis is highlighted.
“Despite the obvious threat Moses posed to our community, you apparently made the decision not to press charges against him. Your office’s inability to hold this individual accountable for his actions, despite his long criminal history and gang affiliation, may have allowed this dangerous individual to remain on the streets… We need to determine if Moses was empowered by the flaws in our sentencing laws that need to be corrected or, to put it bluntly, your office’s inability to properly administer justice,” Newman added.
