The Lion King, Aladdin, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan… and see you soon Peter Pan. Disney continues to increase the list of its live-action movies that adapt their most beloved characters with live-action actors (almost all of them). The next ones will be Peter Pan, Wendy, Juan, Miguel, Tinkerbell and Captain Hook.

But his presentation, as curious and astonishing as it may have been for the millions of children who grew up with his adventures, was not without noise due to the usual. The more conservative sectors of American society are crying out loud at the decision that Tinkerbell is not as white as they expected.

A school racism that will massacre Yara Shahidi, the actress who will play Tinker Bell, and who fell in love with us from the first image. It seems like Disney can’t show racial diversity in its movies (or gender diversity, sexual diversity, or anything else that doesn’t fit the standards of these haters).

A situation that is not the first that the company has faced (and it will not be the last). Because hatred always generates more noise than the admiration or the illusion of the little ones to see the adventures of Peter Pan on the small screen (the first will go directly to Disney + on April 28).

For the same situation Yara Shahidi is currently going through, Halle Bailey played Ariel in The Little Mermaid. In this situation, everything became even more ridiculous since it was “mandatory” that the role not be played by a black actress but by a white actress because, as everyone knows, mermaids are white…

David Lowery is behind JM Barrie’s new live-action adaptation with Alexander Molony bringing Peter Pan to life and Ever Anderson as Wendy. The mythical villain of the film, Captain Hook, will be played by Jude Law.

“This year we will return to Neverland ” explains the company which will take us back to Victorian London to find out if the lost children will come back to reality or remain children forever.
