“This week, we will definitely leave the cold”; six words with which Ruben del Campo, spokesman for the National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) managed to put everyone in a good mood to start the week. There have been very cold days all over Spain, days of staying warm on the couch at home, but that’s over.
The polar cold that we experienced during the winter will be left behind with the arrival of mild winds from the west and southwest, pushed by the Atlantic storms which will circulate the winds and, consequently, leave behind them the frost giving way to rising temperatures.
summer to spring
The week started off on the right foot with less cold and frost in much of Spain due to “overcast skies and the arrival of mild winds”. However, even in areas of the Pyrenees and its mountain ranges such as Benasque (Huesca) -6º continued to be recorded. Although temperatures are rising, in the province of Cádiz it is also possible that there will be persistent rainfall.
Tuesday possible rain and showers will continue, more likely in Galicia and Andalusia, but not excluding that they occur in other parts of the western half and in mountain areas. Of course, the precipitation will not reach the Balearic Islands or the Mediterranean regions, continuing to raise temperatures.
Wednesday is coming a new storm across Galicia leaving a rainy day in this community, especially in the west, where the showers will be abundant. In Cantabria, the Pyrenees, Extremadura, Andalusia, Castile and León it will also rain, although more weakly. Pay special attention to the wind that will blow with great force on the Galician and Cantabrian coast, temperate winds from the southwest that will trigger the snow quota and that will raise temperatures above 18º or even 25º in Valencia or Murcia.

Thursday will be a similar day with possible showers and the wind will blow again, especially in “western Galicia, in the Bay of Biscay and in the Pyrenees, and irregularly distributed rainfall in other parts of the western half and in the central area”. However, temperatures will rise overnight in most capitals and thermometers will register at least 5º.
From Friday, the rains will gradually disappear and only appear in different parts of the north, mainly clear skies and high temperatures. “The anticyclone will be centered over North Africa and, due to its position, it will favor the arrival of non-African air, but practically from the Caribbean.”
The good weather that we have already seen last weekend will continue to increase, leaving the typical temperatures of May and June to exceed 18º. Even more in Mediterranean regions such as the Valencian Community, Murcia and Andalusia where they will reach 30º.
