NEW YORK — Amtrak riders will be able to save money with a special offer.

These are the “night rates”, known in English as Night owl rates, offering prices from $5 to $20 on select Amtrak Northeast Corridor (NEC) routes. It’s a great option for travelers returning from concerts, plays, sporting events, or those who prefer later or earlier departures.

How these fees work

Off-peak trains traveling only between Washington, D.C. and New York, and departing between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. will have ultra-low fares for economy class tickets on Northeast Regional and other selected routes. This offer is now available for most Northeast Corridor city pairs, including stops in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Examples of one-way fares to/from:

  • New York–Washington: $20
  • New York–Baltimore/IBB: $15
  • Washington–Newark/Newark Liberty: $15
  • New York – Philadelphia: $10
  • New York–Wilmington: $10
  • Philadelphia – Washington: $10
  • Washington–Wilmington $10
  • Philadelphia – Baltimore/IBB: $5
  • New York–Newark/Newark Liberty: $5
  • Washington–Baltimore/IBB: $5

Terms and conditions

  • Valid for coach trips only on scheduled departures between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
  • Valid from/to stations between Washington Union (WAS) and New York Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station (NYP). Valid only for economy class seats.
  • Seats are limited and may not be available on all trains at all times.
  • Rates are subject to availability.
  • Routes and schedules are subject to change without notice.
  • Once travel has commenced, changes to the itinerary are not permitted.
