Its amount has been calculated in some online auction portals and pages and is attributed to a creation by the German designer and architect Rolf Lederbogen; also promoter of its other sisters, the 2 and 5 euro cent coins.

In this piece which can be worth 50,000 euros appears drawn an oak on its back it is surrounded by European stars and on which appears its date of manufacture; 2022. In addition, it was created with a different steel from the rest and has a different color from the rest of the euro cents.

“A commission of senior German officials and numismatic experts chose three different designs for the national side of the euro coins. Coins of 1, 2 and 5 centimes they reproduce the oak branch which evokes that which appeared on the old German pfennig coins. The design was made by Professor Rolf Lederbogen”, they describe from he European Central Bank (ECB).

If you take a look, you can see that in online shopping and selling portals such as Wallapop, that particular coin is sold for that listed value, or for smaller amounts, like $1,200. Although the most reliable is to resort to official auctions.

But this 1 cent coin is not the only special, nor the only opportunity to make money with the most ordinary coins.

A year ago, a series of 500 2 euro coins made in Lithuania broken down and whose value can reach up to 2,000 euros. The Central Bank of this country has decided to create in 2021 a batch of half a million coins dedicated to the Zuvintas Biosphere Reserve.

In this lot there was a part of the coins that came out with an error on the edge, where you could read three engraved words: “Laisvé, Vienybé, Gerové” (“freedom, unity, well-being”). This change, which at first glance does not seem so relevant, is what has revalued it so much.
