Just under three years have passed since Santiago Lacunza introduced himself to the world as an artist under the name Diphda con 2030a song produced by Fectro (who has accompanied him on this adventure ever since) which was released as a preview of his EP wake up.
The presentation of his first album, WATERCOLORin October last year, a handful of singles and the release of his EP So Many Changes at the end of that March, where he explores four different versions of one of rapper’s classics XXXTENTACION, placed him as one of the most interesting names in the national avant-garde, surpassing the barrier of 150,000 listeners on Spotify with a sound that explores genres as diverse as electronic pop, urban lo-fi and pop-funk.
NOW, Diphda changes course to begin a new musical stage with the launch of sapphireswhich arrived at midnight April 26 as the first look at her upcoming mixtape, also coinciding with her twenty-second birthday (we hope to hear her sing our favorite blonde’s chorus, “I don’t know about you, but I ‘ve feels like 22”).
Again with Fectro collaborating with him in the production of the song, Diphda presents us with a song with an idealized and almost adolescent love as the protagonist. “You and me in heaven. It’s bathed in diamonds and sapphires. I have to close my eyes if I look at you, if you ask me, I’ll look at you” can be heard singing during the first verses.
A little more than two minutes are needed for Santi Lacunza to offer us a theme inspired by club jersey electronics from a pop structure that shapes the entire song. Ending up with an enveloping sound and a rhythm that weaves its way through our heads, more dancing and accelerated than in his previous projects.
