NEW JERSEY — An unofficial monument in the city of New Jersey is expected to collapse next month.

After filling the air with the sweet smell of baked cookies for six decades, Nabisco’s Fair Lawn plant closed in 2021. Hundreds of people who worked for the company were out of work.

The massive Route 208 site has been part of the landscape for as long as some people can remember.

The site’s implosion date must have been highly anticipated, and the answer finally came in last week. The implosion is scheduled for Saturday, April 15 at 8 a.m.

The nearly 40-acre site is expected to be cleared to make way for construction of a warehouse, NorthJersey.com reported.
