“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2000-2015) will return to its origins in Las Vegas (USA) with a new series, “CSI: Vegas”, in which two of the original actors of this successful crime fiction will appear: William Petersen and Jorja Fox.

“The tests never lie. ‘CSI’ is back,” said CBS, confirming that Petersen (who played Gil Grissom) and Fox (Sara Sidle) will be at the helm of this new series.

Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon will complete the cast of “CSI: Vegas.”

“21 years ago, we launched ‘CSI’ and watched in awe as this series pioneered an entire genre and became a revolutionary giant that still has a global echo today,” said Kelly Kahl, who is the president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement.

“We are excited to welcome the next generation of criminalists and forensicists to ‘CSI’ and unite them with the legendary characters from the past that we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox,” he added.

The famous producer Jerry Bruckheimer was also delighted by this new chapter of “CSI”.

“And going back to Las Vegas, where it all started more than twenty years ago, makes it even more special,” he said.

With Marg Helgenberger, Gary Dourdan, George Eads and Paul Guilfoyle joining Petersen and Fox, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” caused a sensation around the world by featuring a sophisticated forensic science unit tasked with solving the city’s most complicated crimes. of the game.

“CSI”, which gave rise to numerous fictions on the screen about researchers who relied on science to catch criminals, also marked an era for the hyper-realistic recreation and with digital effects of each of the cases it presented.

The original series ran for 335 episodes over 15 seasons.

Petersen, the main character in a rather choral cast, left the series in the ninth season, which was joined by Laurence Fishburne as a replacement.

But the most impressive thing about the “CSI” phenomenon is that it had up to three derivative series that traveled across the United States: “CSI: Miami” (2002-2012) with David Caruso as cast leader, “CSI: New York” (2004 -2013) with Gary Sinise as the main character, and the short “CSI: Cyber” (2014-2016) with Patricia Arquette at the helm.
