Original, uncensored, with few resources and a weak internet connection (wooden, as we say in Cuba), there are already dozens of young people on the island who use the YouTube platform to tell their experiences and the reality that the chains do not show oficialistas, on Cuba.

The beginnings were difficult in a hyper-populated social network with an endless variety of characters. Very popular since 2006, but only arrived in Cuba in 2015.

That year, the regime authorized WIFI connection parks and authorized Internet access, charging high fees for a few minutes of interactivity on the network.

These Youtubers tell the daily life of Cubans, how they live, how they take the bus, talk about what they eat, explain what the shops are in MLC (which differs from the national currency which officially circulates in the country), show how they live the wealthy class and that on foot. In short, the questions that many want to know, but that the regime persists in hiding.

The weight of censorship, even if it did not change the content of some creators, influenced the productive dynamics of YouTube channels made in Cuba.

Being able to monetize hundreds of dollars, some continued to work only as a hobby, others supported by relatives living abroad and a few, like those we present here, bet on leaving Cuba.
