A 16-year-old Carson girl who had been missing for more than four months has been found alive.
Alinka Angeline Castaneda was reported missing after leaving her home on January 1. Her mother confirmed to Telemundo 52 on Monday that the minor had been found.
So far, the circumstances under which she was found or the reason for her disappearance have not been revealed.
Earlier this month, the city of Carson approved a $100,000 reward in the search for Alinka.
Marciela Avila Roses said her daughter left home without a credit card, ID or a change of clothes. Since her disappearance, her mobile phone had remained disconnected, but then, on January 19, Roses said she received a call from her daughter, leading her to believe the teenager was a victim of human trafficking.
“She called her family at least three times. Each time it sounded under duress. And she said something to the effect of, ‘They won’t let me go.’ I don’t know where I am, “and she has to hang up,” Moses Castillo, a retired Los Angeles Police Department detective and family advocate, said earlier this month.
