Railroad company Brightline is looking for qualified employees in central Florida as the rail link between Orlando and Miami nears completion.

Prior to the opening of the train to Orlando, Brightline will fill 175 jobs in the region, including technical positions that will work directly on the train fleet.

To fill these technical positions, which require unique skills in the industry, Brightline will offer courses in partnership with Valencia College and other regional schools to prepare future engineers, drivers, inspectors and technicians for a career with Brightline and its subcontractors.

The technical stations will be located at Basecamp, Brightline’s new $100 million state-of-the-art rail maintenance facility that can service up to 16 trains at a time.

Brightline jobs will start at a rate of $20 per hour.

The industrial automation technician program lasts 22 weeks at the university.

The course consists of five modules: maintenance operation, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic. Along the way, students earn nationally recognized credentials.

In total, Brightline and its contractors, Siemens and Herzog, plan to employ 100 highly skilled technical positions at Basecamp.

Brightline has been a major job creator in the state of Florida, since construction began on the Orlando expansion, over 10,000 jobs have been created.
