The body of a Hispanic woman who was reported missing was found at the bottom of a California aqueduct, authorities reported Tuesday.

The body of Missy Hernández, 30, was found last Sunday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department in central California reported today at a press conference.

Hernández had not been seen since Dec. 7, 2021, when she left an art show in Fresno with her boyfriend, Ramón Jiménez.

The disappearance had been classified by the authorities as suspicious.

Last week, the County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of Jimenez, 41. The man was charged with Hernandez’s murder even though the Latina’s body had not been found.

Nicole Linder, executive director of the Marjorie Mason Center, a local shelter for women victims of male violence, indicated that “the bravest thing you can do to save yourself is to tell someone: I need help.”
