This year, Walmart announced that it is reinventing the look of Black Friday in its stores and online. Instead of having a big sales day, they will have three separate days filled with savings that start online at Walmart.com .

This is exciting news for eCommerce sellers, as the most anticipated shopping day (Black Friday) has tripled and will begin online at Walmart Marketplace before hitting physical stores.

“[Walmart is] offering you more convenient and safer ways to shop on Black Friday at Walmart, whether it’s from the shelf in one of our stores, ordering online and curbside pickup, or having it delivered right to your door.” – Scott McCall, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart US

How to Prepare for Increased Online Orders

1) Double check all your listings.

Make sure your listings are up to date:

  • Is your description the best possible?
  • Does your title contain all the keywords that buyers often search for?
  • Are your prices up to date and ready to go?
  • Are your photos high resolution?

Tip: Follow our general best practices for Walmart listing for some quick wins.

2) Make sure you have enough inventory ready to fulfill .

There is no excuse for running out of stock in the middle of a large planned sales event. You will lose sales and risk your competition getting ahead of you in terms of recognition and opinions. To avoid this, make sure you have a large inventory ready to go.

Tip: The deadline for delivery is November 3 when it is shipped directly to our warehouses.

3) Prepare for a demand at least twice as high, but probably more .

2020 is the year of uncertainty, but all of our data so far points to a record year for e-commerce, and we have no reason to expect anything different from this BFCM sales season. Prepare yourself, and plan to stay prepared during the fourth trimester.
