The City of New Smyrna Beach has voted in favor of a youth curfew given an alleged increase in crime that occurred in 2022.
Local authorities that the city is a destination for Central Florida youth have therefore proposed a permanent curfew of 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
“Spring break is about to begin for schools in Central Florida. As a result, we have made some changes. Safe and friendly will increase law enforcement presence, especially on Flagger Avenue and the beach. Please obey the laws and enjoy our city,” Eric said. Feldman, Chief of Police of New Smyra.
