New Marvel premiere, new post-credits scene. It’s clear that superhero movies have gotten viewers around the world used to waiting in their seats until the screening is over, especially if it’s an MCU movie. And now the turn has come Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The third Ant-Man movie promises a plot that could change the course of Marcel Studios forever, and Kang the Conqueror is responsible for it. The character played by Jonathan Majors will be the new big villain of Phase 5, and this is the best presentation he could get. But once seen, the mandatory questions arrive: Are there any post-credit scenes? How much? Are they serious, or another Marvel gag? And what do they mean for the future of Marvel Studios?
The first answers itself, since the only film without post-credit scenes is Avengers: Endgame, which took on a special solemnity to signify the end of a saga. But the rest we will tell you below, obviously with SPOILERS of the film:
Post-credits scenes from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
The film has post-credits scenes of course, and follows Marvel tradition of having two: one after the graphic credits and another at the very end. And although one of them is usually used to make a gag, this time, both are crucial to the future of Marvel Studios and the next two phases of films. Here the explanation:
First post-credits scene
Kang returns to the scene, though, as everyone should know by now, It is a variant of his that meets two others. They are Rama-Tut —a former Pharaoh-like comic book regular who has already faced the Fantastic 4—, Immortus and another who could be a form of Scarlet Centurion —a character who, in cartoons, is actually that of Kang Jr.
The three are aware that Ant-Man managed to defeat the Kang we see in the film, and they lament that they didn’t do it themselves. It must be remembered that they are responsible for having exiled him, although they consider that the ant offensive could jeopardize everything they have built – something they say looking at the ramifications of the universes seen in Loki—. They later confirm that they warned “the others”, which ends up being a whole convention of Kangs from different parts of the multiverse.
In this way, the words of the protagonist at the end of the film are confirmed: by defeating Kang, He managed to endanger everything he loves. And so, the real prelude to Avengers: Kang Dynasty, the next episode of the crossover which will arrive on May 2, 2025.
Second post-credits scene
At the very end, the action returns to the screen and takes us back in time, where an inventor talks about time. This man is Victor Timely. – another variant of Kang – a character from the comics not as powerful as the main Kang, but who is looked at suspiciously by two spectators from the audience.
It’s about Loki and Mobius –Tom Hiddleston there Owen Wilson– who return to action after the end of the first season of Loki. There, Wilson’s character mistrusts his word, as he doesn’t see him as dangerous as Loki has pointed out, although he confirms he is. Without a doubt, a preview of the next season of the series, which could arrive on Disney+ in the summer of 2023 and which, judging by this scene and the end of its last episode, could drive the Kangs out of different realities.
