The countdown to the Oscars has already begun. The proof is the celebration of the BAFTA Awards 2023 in the early hours of this Sunday. The British Academy Film Awards ceremony had its night two great protagonists, Ana de Armas and Austin Butler, who devastated in their own way.

After the Golden Globes gala, a prelude to the most important awards in the film industry, this weekend took place the BAFTA Awards, where many names from the first ceremony were repeated in this year’s list of nominees.

They stand out among them Cate Blanchett for his role in Warehouse, Viola Davis (The female king), Danielle Deadwyler and Until and Emma Thompson for Good luck to youGreat Lion; Michelle Yeo For all at once everywhere and, of course, Ana de Armas; another of the Oscar nominees, along with Blanchett.

Ana de Armas’ dazzling dress at the BAFTA Awards

Although the Spaniard Ana de Armas starts as one of the favorites in practically all the prizes in which is up for her role in blonde, the film about the most traumatic part of Marilyn Monroe’s life, both acclaimed—for Armas’ work—and criticized for being called misogynistic; he did not return home with the prize.

In the same category for Best Leading Actress, the winner was the great Cate Blanchett. But, although she was not proclaimed the winner of the evening, the truth is that Ana de Armas triumphed at the BAFTAs, even if her success didn’t shine on the stage at London’s Royal Festival Hall, it only did on the red carpet.

The Spanish actress opted for a romantic satin dress with its star designer, Louis Vuitton, powdery pink. A look that recalls (and a lot) the style of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, although adapted to the current style of the performer.

Austin Butler, the “pretty boy” of Hollywood

Despite his dazzling style, another rising star turned heads at the 2023 BAFTA Awards. Austin Butler, nominated for his performance in Elvis, won as Mjeor Actor above Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin); Brendan Fraser (The Whale) or Pual Mescal (Aftersun), with whom he shares an Oscar nomination.

His victory is not so surprising, since also won the Golden Globe house in the same category, although on this occasion there was no speech with a “weird” accent. Will his price be a prediction of what will happen at the Oscars or will we have a surprise?

Others from the winners of the 2023 BAFTA Awards evening were No news at the front (Best film); Emma Mackey (Best Emerging Actress); Kerry Condon (Best Supporting Actress); Barry Keoghan (Best Supporting Actor) and Edward Berger (Best Director).
