Investigators investigating the case of the murder  of Halyna Hutchins during the filming of the movie ‘Rust’ on October 21 have revealed new evidence, which could confirm the claims of Alec Baldwin – who owned the gun – that he never pulled the trigger .

“Well, the trigger didn’t pull. I didn’t pull the trigger ,” Baldwin said in his first interview after the fatal accident. The actor insisted that he had only pulled the hammer from the gun.

At first, New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies did not believe the filmmaker’s words, but, intrigued, decided to test a similar revolver to see if Baldwin’s version is viable.

Accompanied by two other investigators, the officers carried out the test and unofficially concluded that the hammer could have caused the shot .

“They showed me live,” Carmack-Altwies shared her experience with The Vanity Fair. “You can pull the hammer back without actually pulling the trigger and not locking it. So, you pull it back partially, it doesn’t lock, and then if you let go, the firing pin can hit the percussion cap of the bullet,” explained the fiscal.

This Tuesday, the family of Halyna Hutchins sued Alec Baldwin and the producers of ‘Rust’ for wrongful death. The plaintiffs’ attorney claimed that the “reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures” taken by the actor and the film’s producers, respectively, “led to the death” of the cinematographer.
