After storms dumped an unprecedented amount of snow in the mountainous regions of San Bernardino Countystranded or snowbound for some residents, the county is updating its snow removal reimbursement program for residents and business owners.

In most cases, owners are responsible for snow removal on their private property.

However, due to the storms, San Bernardino County is updating its program to help those affected.

The roof of a supermarket in Crestline collapsed on Wednesday under the weight of snow that piled up several feet high in mountain communities in Southern California during a series of powerful winter storms.

The snow removal rebate program allows residents and businesses to receive up to $500 in reimbursement for snow removal costs.

Costs include snow removal from private property, including driveways and sidewalks, and private roads. This program is not available for vacant homes, vacant rental properties or unimproved lots.

On the San Bernardino County website, they have suggested snow removal contractors that residents can choose from if they don’t already have one.

  • Bear Valley Paving: (909) 866-4746

To request the discount program, see website. Before submitting the application, the county will need to see proof of snow removal and will require residents to upload an invoice or receipt with post-snow removal photos.

Photos showing the property before snow removal are optional.

Once the request is received and approved by the county, it will take approximately 30 days for the refund check to arrive.

This is a one-time refund and only applies after February 22. Any snow removal before February 22, 2023 will not be eligible. It is limited to one applicant per address or company.
