A 2-year-old girl who was found unconscious in her family’s swimming pool on Sunday afternoon is recovering after relatives pulled her out of the water and administered CPR under the direction of a 911 supervisor until when a rescue team arrives.

Around 4:48 p.m. last Sunday, it was learned that the little girl had been found face down in the above-ground swimming pool while a relative was taking care of several children. Seeing her, the parent jumped into the pool and pulled the child out.

No one in the house had CPR training, but as the operator dispatched units to the scene, telecommunications supervisor Thomas Eggers began giving CPR instructions over the phone.

The girl managed to survive and was taken to hospital in serious condition for treatment.

Local authorities in Volusia have reported that he is doing well and will improve.

The state Department of Children and Families has been notified of the incident and an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
