Israel faces the launch of rockets against its most intense territory in its history, in the context of the new conflict with the movement Hamas in the Palestinian enclave of Gazathe Israeli army said Sunday.
Since May 10, the armed groups of Gaza some 3,000 rockets were fired at Israel, beating the rate of fire during an escalation in 2019 and during the 2006 war against Lebanese Hezbollah, General Ori Gordin said in a meeting with journalists.
In the escalation with Islamic Jihad, in November 2019, 570 rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip.
And in the war with Hezbollah in the summer of 2006, 4,500 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon in 19 days.
However, since Monday, armed groups in the Palestinian enclave, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, fired some 3,000 rockets, Gordin said.
When asked if it was the highest rate of rockets fired at Israel, he said: “Not only do I agree, but that is what I just presented.”
