Today the Team Xbox enthusiastically announced the new initiatives aimed at celebrating the Earth Day, with the aim of continuing to carry out their mission of “bringing joy and video games to everyone on the planet”.

And in doing this, Microsoft has set ambitious commitments to significantly reduce the company’s environmental impact and operate as a carbon-negative, water positive and zero waste company by 2030.

And for this very reason, Xbox is also working to reduce its negative environmental impact while continuing to produce quality gaming products and experiences that fans know and appreciate.

Microsoft and Xbox have decided to celebrate Earth Day properly

The American giant then revealed that it was making changes in all phases of the product life cycle to meet its corporate sustainability commitments.

But the news does not end here, with the colossus of Redmond which it unveiled as the members of Microsoft Rewards in the United States, they can earn and donate points to support selected environmental organizations. The following organizations will be present on consoles throughout April:

  • World Wildlife Fund
  • Water.org
  • The Nature Conservancy

Also, for every dollar donated by Microsoft Rewards in April, The Nature Conservancy will plant a tree as part of the Plant A Billion Trees program.

And for the uninitiated, players can earn Microsoft Rewards points in various ways, such as playing or buying games after downloading the Microsoft Rewards app directly to your game console.

We then report a whole series of dedicated streams in that of Xbox Plays, aimed at celebrating Earth Day week, involving well-known streamers such as BBXH, TEECUP181, JEFF BRUTLAG, KENDRISITE and HAMMYBANKS.

In fact, during the week from 18 to 22 April, Xbox Twitch Channel celebrated Earth Day with live streamers focused on the environment.

Finally we conclude the article by mentioning how Microsoft Casual Games decided to celebrate the beauty of the Earth with a painting showing our beautiful Planet as seen from space and surrounded by stars, as well as a new player image, a profile theme and avatar items dedicated to the Xbox world.

In collaboration with the Xbox sustainability team, we are introducing a new gamer picture, profile themes and avatar items! The player image and profile theme will be available on console and the Xbox PC app. The profile theme and player image will be visible on all platforms (including mobile and Game Bar), but players can change the profile theme on the console and the Xbox app on PC.
