The Coalition has apparently been working on its next Gears of War game for a few years at this point, with Gears 5 releasing in 2019. While we’ve yet to see any sort of actual “Gears 6” announcement, a key to the developer from the franchise’s Xbox 360 days have apparently gotten back to work.

Developer Joshua Ortega took to Twitter to remind us of all the work he’s done on the Gears franchise so far. This time, he added the phrase “Here we go again!”

When asked by fans if he was “back with Gears”, Ortega seemed to hint that he was working on Gears of War again in some capacity.

As of now, we don’t know their true involvement in development, but if recent reports are to be believed, The Coalition is now full steam ahead on Gears 6 after canceling a few other internal projects.

Ortega worked as a screenwriter and co-director in gears of war 2, co-author of Gears of War 3 and more, including comic book spin-offs. Either way, we’d welcome such an influential figure in the franchise – those two Xbox 360 titles were some of the best Gears games ever made!
