ReCore was one of those odd Xbox One-era exclusives, from an unlikely partnership between Microsoft and a developer with experience working on metroid primer. Well, the game’s official Instagram page posted a rather cryptic message this week – its first post in over five years.

To be honest, we have no idea what this message actually means, or even why it exists. The game’s official Twitter page hasn’t posted it either, which makes the whole thing even weirder.

The image itself contains a bunch of handwritten gibberish on a worn-looking notebook page. The post itself adds, “Does anyone know what I’m doing with this encrypted code?”

We’ve never seen proper hints of a sequel to ReCore, but the game makes the occasional appearance on Xbox Land. In 2020, developer Armature expressed a desire for a sequel, while Xbox Game Studios Publishing also posted about the game’s fifth anniversary in 2021.

Even so, Armature said they “didn’t specifically talk about making a new ReCore game” in their 2020 interview, so we never expected the series to return. However, that was three years ago, so could potentially looking for a comeback. We’ll have to wait and see what comes next on these social channels, if anything.
