To celebrate the return of the Lich King Frostmourne’s weapon to the World of Warcraft spotlight with the release of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, jeweler Phoebus of the Avalone Mythic Series YouTube channel decided to recreate the MMORPG’s beloved sword, without skimping or a single detail along the way.
The project took over 700 hours to complete, and the nearly 20-minute video shows the painstaking process of making every part of Frostmourne come to life, from its mini-skulls on the underside of the handle to the huge, narrow, horned Skull that center the sheet. Using gold and silver, the jeweler was able to make the sword shine and appear just as powerful in real life as it does in the game series.
The video showcases multiple expert angle views of the blade once it’s fully finished, as well as epic music that builds excitement upon viewing the final product.
Phoebus, a jeweler with over ten years of experience behind him, crafted the sword using the model from Warcraft 3: Reforged as a template. This version of the Lich King’s sword has much more black detailing, making it a much bolder model that stands out as a weapon imbued with necrotic magic.
The jeweler explained why he chose to recreate Frostmourne: “As my first project in this series, I chose Frostmourne because I played the games for a long time.” Even though “everyone hates” Warcraft 3: Reforged, this version of Frostmourne allowed him to create a more detailed version of the blade than in other Warcraft titles where the weapon design is more basic.
With Wrath of the Lich King Classic releasing soon, this video builds a tremendous amount of hype surrounding the expansion’s release. If you’re looking to get into the popular MMORPG, check out the best WoW addons.
