HBO The last of us Episode seven gave fans a slight reprieve from the show’s main story. Although some scenes of Joel and Ellie were still shown in their current timeline, the latest screening of the adaptation focused primarily on Ellie and Riley’s friendship. Having never been featured before, some viewers may not know who Riley really is. Who is Riley on HBO? The last of us what show?

Riley is Ellie’s best friend and main confidante throughout her time in Boston’s Quarantine Zone. Although this is the only time we have seen her during the series, we can assume based on their interactions that they have always been there for each other since long before the events of episode seven. It is also implied that Riley mostly protected Ellie from bullies, such as Bethany, fighting with them and possibly hurting them badly.

Unfortunately, Riley also thinks Phaedra is a fascist group, which mainly led her to run away from them and join the Fireflies. This was also the main reason for the duo’s conflict near the end of the episode, as Ellie isn’t as frustrated with Phaedra’s presence and eventually finds out about the pipe bombs Riley made.

Who is Riley in The Last of Us game?

Riley is also Ellie’s best friend in-game and is the only person she shared a real connection with until she met Joel. However, we see and learn more about its history through The Last of Us: American Dreams comic book series that details the history of the duo.

Thanks to the graphic novels we were able to learn that Riley was apparently born in 2016 and that she and her family, like many others, were victims of the pandemic. During his creation, his father was infected with the Cordyceps brain infection, causing him to kill his wife. Unfortunately, Riley also had to kill her father to protect herself.
