Metroid Prime fans have had their hearts broken countless times over the years. Although the fourth installment was announced at E3 2017, only a brief preview was seen. Thankfully, long-suffering fans have a chance to return to Tallon IV when Metroid Prime Remastered launches for Switch. The digital version is already available, but when will the physical version of Metroid Prime Remastered be released?

Metroid Prime Remastered Physical Edition release date

The February 2023 Nintendo Direct was full of announcements, but Metroid fans will be most excited as this will undoubtedly be the announcement for Metroid Prime Remastered. The existence of the remaster was an open secret for years, but finally seeing it announced was an exciting time for those still waiting for Metroid Prime 4 to see the light of day. Fans eager to dive into one of Samus’ greatest adventures can already download the game from Nintendo eShop, but those who want a physical copy will have to wait a little longer.

The physical editions of Metroid Prime Remastered will be released on February 22 in North America. Fans in Japan and Europe won’t be able to get their hands on the game until March 3.

The trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct showed off the graphical upgrade Metroid Prime Remastered is getting, but it also showed off some key gameplay features that fans will be looking forward to. Along with her usual assortment of bombs, missiles, and energy bolts, Samus’ adventures on Tallon IV include using her goggles to identify an enemy’s weaknesses and scout out mission targets.

As players investigate the interconnecting pathways and twisting maps of Tallon IV, they’ll unlock iconic Metroid powers like the Morph Ball and Grapple Beam. They’ll also encounter some of Samus’ greatest enemies, like Ridley and Flaahgra. The game’s first-person perspective and 3D environments were a first for the series, which had been firmly in the side-scrolling 2D genre for years when Metroid Prime first released on the Game Cube in 2022.

The digital edition of Metroid Prime Remastered is available now, but fans can get the physical edition on February 22 in North America and March 3 in Japan and Europe.
