With patch 13.3, the developers of Teamfight Tactics have made some major overhauls to some of the more lackluster elements of the game. For example, the Gadgeteen trait has been reworked so these units have stronger group synergy in the late game. Although Gadgeteen was a solid option for the early rounds of TFT, he still struggled to find his footing towards the end of the game. So, the developers gave this particular tech trait a few extra tricks, allowing it to go head-to-head with other Set 8 builds.

What’s new at Gadgeteen?

Before, Gadgeteens focused on objects they created themselves. However, in addition to these crafted weapons, they also gain additional benefits. These bonus perks are based on how many items you have equipped on your Gadgeteen units, period.

For each object a Gadgeteen takes, it takes an additional percentage of damage. and one percentage reduction in defensive damage. If you have three Gadgeteens, this percentage is 3%. For five, it’s 12%. So with five Gadgeteens on your board, a fully detailed unit can get up to 36% more damage and reduced damage. This is perfect for a trait like Gadgeteen where Annie and Nunu are the strongest units. Since Annie and Nunu are tanky champions who can deal a lot of damage, they pair well with their abilities. Upgrading both its damage and defensive stats gives you an even bigger advantage in the late game, where the Gadgeteen trait used to drop.

What can you build with the Gadgeteen perk?

Gadgeteen might not have been a strong trait on its own, but it was an offshoot of a handful of other powerful builds. After this 13.3 patch, research a variety of combinations of Ox Force, Spellslinger, Hacker, Heart, and Mascot to become even more powerful. Nunu, in particular, could become a terrifying and deadly damage force on the board with these sorts of buffs. Players can now build a large number of AP damage items for him, such as Rabadon’s death cap, without having to worry about his health. The Gadgeteen trait will improve this for him.
