Diablo games are all about gear, and each item you find has many unique properties. Diablo 3 in particular is known for the widest range of legendary weapons, helmets, and more to turn your mighty character into a god. Some shoot meteoric fireballs, others poison your enemies at every turn, and the most terrifying ones can even raise the dead. However, starting from patch 2.7.0, some of the interesting stuff can “emanate”. Sure, fans love new ways to level up their characters, but what does it mean for an item to “emanate”?

In Diablo 3, single player mode comes with followers. These followers help you on your journey, dealing extra damage or removing aggro from your character. Eventually, players could equip these followers with their own full list of gear. It’s exciting because it makes them stronger, but it’s a shame if you put a unique legendary item on them and feel like you’re “wasting” their special ability because of it.
The ’emanate’ ability is a game-changer because now any item that ’emanates’ will also spread towards you, meaning you can benefit from the legendary power of the gear. For example, Krede’s flame activates whenever you are hit by fire attacks. Because Krede’s flame emanates, you and your companion now restore your primary resource (mana, arcane, hate, etc.) per point of burn damage.

What elements have the ability to “emanate”?
Unfortunately for players, there really aren’t many pieces of gear that can “emanate”. So no, you can’t give him the Enchantress’s Firebird insignia and expect them to rain down Phoenician terror. Instead, many “emanate” items involve things like gathering gold, recharging resources, shrines, hoarding gems, and other quality of life improvements.

- Flame of Krede: Every 1% health lost to fire damage becomes 1% of your main resource recharged
- The taste of time: Nephalem Rift Pylon effects last twice as long
- Sage’s Journey Set: Having three pieces of the Sage’s Journey Set means you double your chances of getting Death’s Breath drops
- Cain’s Destiny Game: Having three pieces of the Fate of Cain set means that when one Great Rift Keystone falls, there is a 25% chance of a second one falling.
Tips on using “emana” in Diablo 3
One thing everyone should know about gear with the “emanation” ability is that none of these properties will work while the follower is incapacitated. So it’s almost necessary to pair these legendary items with an ability that makes your follower invulnerable, like Enchanting Favor, Skeleton Key, or Smoking Thurible.
The best items “emanate” change depending on what you’re doing. If you’re into crafting, Sage’s Journey Set or Broken Crown are your best bets. If you want to improve your character, Dovu Energy Trap or Krede’s Flame will make you much more powerful. In the meantime, if you just want to make boss farming and level grinding more enjoyable, Zakara’s Spaulders, Custerian’s Wristguards, and Nemesis’ Bracers can be invaluable. However you play, there’s a team element “emanating” for you and your favorite fan.
