In addition to defining our SEO best practices and ensuring compliance, the successful candidate will work with the Associate Editor and Publisher on our long-term guide strategy. You will need to be able to identify potential new trending games, create frameworks to cover them, and have a good understanding of the community to understand player challenges. You will know all the best tools to track guide performance and be adept at using them, able to use them to adapt our strategies and seamlessly switch between versions. You will understand the importance of preserving our existing guides and be able to design processes to ensure their regular maintenance.
You will also lead a great team of charming and talented people. Keeping them happy and motivated is very important to us, so you will need to be an experienced and understanding people manager. All of our section editors are also responsible for quality standards within their teams, so you will need to be a skilled writer and editor with a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities
- Manage the team of guides, ensuring that all members perform their role to the best of their abilities and remain happy and motivated.
- Maintain and improve knowledge of SEO best practices and apply them to teamwork to increase our search traffic.
- Writing and updating guides.
- Monitor the performance of our guides and organize their updates as needed
- Keep abreast of news and trends in online publishing, especially SEO
- Use monitoring and reporting tools (e.g. Google Trends, SE Ranking) to identify potential gains and mitigate ranking losses
- Watch for in-game challenges, patch updates, and any other regular guide content opportunities
- Use Google, Reddit, and other gaming communities to identify and suggest queries that might lead to new guides and other types of articles.
- Participate in occasional press trips, write previews and reviews, and pitch ideas for opinion pieces to the associate editor and editor.
- Keep our internal reporting and workflow tools (e.g. Asana, Google Calendar) organized and up to date
- Other tasks requested by the Associate Editor, Editor-in-Chief or Publishing Director
you will have/will be/will be able
- Practical and theoretical understanding of search engine optimization and best practices for publishing targeted search content
- Experience planning and writing guides and ongoing content for video games
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow, balance updates and production of new guides evenly and fairly across the team.
- Interest in and prior knowledge of PC games.
- Plan and prioritize own workload to meet agreed deadlines
- Check for errors to ensure work is delivered to a high standard the first time
- Adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a positive attitude
- Work with others in a professional and respectful manner.
- Apply experience; use company tools and technology to achieve work goals
