Valheim has finally arrived on Xbox consoles. The game also received a patch, which introduces a large number of small changes and fixes. You can also play the title as part of the Xbox Game Pass service.
As the developers promised, they did. After more than two years in Early Access on PC, Valheim debuted on Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X consoles. The title is also available on the Xbox Game Pass service.
Released on consoles
Valheim Early Access Console Edition can be purchased at microsoft store for $19.99. If you’re not convinced to buy, a better alternative might be to play the title on Game Pass – the game was previously available on subscription only on PC, but now it can be tried on Xbox consoles as well. The title is cross-platform compatible, allowing them to play together on one server regardless of platform.
Valheim – essential information
Valheim is an action and survival game that takes us to a fantastic world inspired by Norse mythology. The game allows us to play alone or in cooperative mode with up to 10 players simultaneously. The heart of the game is character progression and gear collection, mostly through deep crafting: constructed fortresses and outposts aid in survival, as do better and better armor and a more powerful arsenal. The objective of the game is to defeat all the powerful beasts that inhabit the world in order to restore peace on earth and obtain the favors of Odin.
The title became a big hit from the first moment. Within the first two weeks of its PC release, it found more than 3 million buyers, and after a year there were more than 10 millions. The title maintains a high level of interest among gamers, with around 30-50,000 daily players on PC lately (via: SteamDB). Such great success is enviable. It will be interesting to see if the title will play as well on Microsoft consoles as it does on PC.
Patch 0.214.2 available for download
Alongside its debut on Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X consoles, the developers released a patch for the game, marked as 0.214.2. Introduced a number of minor fixes, including Menu and interface improvements, a manual save button, bug fixes or improved optimization.. Information about the contents of the patch can be found on the game’s official website.
In the meantime, the developers are not idle. Since the game’s debut in February 2021, Valheim has received a number of free updates: In December 2022, a long-awaited patch called Mistlands was released, introducing a new region of the world, as well as many weapons and abilities. Unfortunately, at this time it is unknown when the game will leave Early Access. Judging by the high user ratings on Steam (95% positive reviews out of 340,000 reviews), gamers aren’t bothered that the game is still in Early Access.
