the horror game PlayStation VR2The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR will make good use of the new glasses’ eye-tracking technology to scare gamers away.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR follows in the footsteps of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, two on-rails shooters from developer Supermassive Games that served as spinoffs of their choice-based narrative horror games.

Rush of Blood was a launch title for the original PlayStation VR headset that served as a spin-off to Until Dawn. Switchback VR isn’t a launch title for PlayStation VR2, but it’s slated to release for PS5 VR headsets on March 16.

As Rush of Blood was set in the Until Dawn universe, Switchback VR ties into The Dark Pictures, an anthology horror series that plays similarly to Until Dawn, while firmly establishing its own identity.

The PlayStation VR2 headset introduces many new features and improvements over the original device, which in turn provides developers with new tools to work with when creating their virtual reality experiences.

This new horror game for PS VR2 knows when you close your eyes

New to PlayStation VR2 is eye tracking, which will be used in The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR. It has been confirmed that the next horror game will know when players have their eyes closed.

According to game director Alejandro Arque Gallardo, some enemies will approach the player every time they blink, while other enemies will only be able to move when the player is not looking directly at them. It goes without saying that this technology has enormous potential to deliver truly terrifying horror gaming experiences.
