It’s time for another Them’s Fightin’ Herds update, with the game moving to version 4.0.1.

The team’s goal here was to work out all the details after the release of the Texas DLC. Many bugfixes have been implemented “which should iron out inconsistencies and provide stability, as well as some specific balance changes”.

Below are the full patch notes for Them’s Fightin’ Herds Update 4.0.1:

how to play
General

  • Velvet and Tianhuo’s 6A attacks that cancel jump back will now cause them to leave the ground instead of going into pre-block. This fixes an inconsistency with all other jump cancellable moves in the game.
  • Fixed an oversight where Velvet, Oleander, Tianhuo, and Shanty were not in a counter state after a level 3 super.
  • Fixed an oversight that allowed armored attacks to affect Tier 3 Supers Arizona, Velvet, Oleander, and Pom. These attacks should now successfully break armor.

Velvet
Correction of errors

  • Sculpted Perfection’s invulnerability will now occur at frame 7, fixing inconsistencies.

Adelpha
Correction of errors

  • Fixed some Chain Attacks not landing consistently. Players would get forward attacks instead of low attacks. (6A > 3B or 6A > 3C)
  • Fixed an oversight where Fred 6D had too much block, causing the opponent’s push or cross gallop block inputs to be ignored.

Pimenton
Balance

  • Paprika’s opponent’s reverse attacks no longer cause her to eat a gift. This will change Paprika’s influence on the opponent during Awakening situations.

Correction of errors

  • Fixed an issue during Deadly Affection where Paprika would sometimes not enter a stunned state after being hit by a super attack.
  • Fixed an issue that caused A promotions to trigger a bonus meal if it had no negative perk. As a general rule, all A promotions should avoid the consumption of freebies.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the first hit of Smother from playing its sound effect.

pom pom
Correction of errors

  • Fixed an issue where Pom’s hounds would sometimes not cancel their attacks immediately when Pom bouldered as they should.
  • (Probably) Fixed an issue that prevented Bark from going the full length of active hitboxes when removing a projectile.
  • Fixed some specific interactions with Texas that would cause Pom Hounds to not leave as soon as their health was depleted.
  • Fixed some issues with dog cloaks causing mom and dad to appear in front of Texas during certain animations. They should now be positioned behind Texas at all times as expected.
  • Fixed a cosmetic bug where players could see mum disappear when leaving the stage if she had to travel far enough. Mom will now completely exit the screen before disappearing.

tianhuo
Balance

  • The invulnerability period for 7D has been significantly shortened.
    • This reversal is one of the most controversial abilities in the entire game. We are finally fixing it after over a year of many previous patches failing.
  • Tianhuo meter gain has been adjusted at all levels.
    • This finally puts Tianhuo in line with the rest of the cast meter gain adjustments in Patch 3.0 for Tier 3 Super Balance. 3.0+, because it makes its level 3 too accessible. We want Tier 3 Supers to remain special events and not a regular part of every game.

Hut
Correction of errors

  • Fixed an issue that caused a Tier 1 Reversal Super to normally spawn after Shanty was buried by Texas Smash.
  • Fixed an issue where the Wallbounce stun would cause camera issues during Wall Cling attacks.
  • The afterimages of fixed installations (Shanty and Tianhuo in their level 2), if active, would overlap on Shanty’s super level 3 ship segment.

Texas
Cosmetic

  • Texas now has an idle crouching animation.

Balance

  • Bonus damage from landing a Bullseye is no longer true damage. Attack now respects scaling rules.

Correction of errors

  • Fixed an oversight that allowed Texas to gain more meters than other characters when hit.
  • Fixed an issue where Bullseye buffs were not occurring during certain combos.
  • Fixed an issue where Air Cowbell would sometimes cause a wallstick instead of a wallbounce.
  • Fixed an issue where characters had different recovery distances in Texas after being caught by Texas Smash. All characters should now have the same recovery distance.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Stomp to have an inconsistent amount of armor.
  • Fixed an issue where Earth Pull could sometimes be canceled by a jump.
  • Fixed an issue where Prairie Pummel sometimes had inconsistent lead frames and sometimes did not cause a hard knockdown.
  • Fixed a rare case where the Pummel Pillar had inconsistent pause periods after activating.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera would not track Texas correctly during and after Pummel Pillar.
  • Fixed an issue in the Texas Mirror match where if the Pummel Pillar was used while the other player’s Pummel Pillar was still active, the camera and spawned rock objects would scroll.
  • Fixed an issue where if Tianhuo hit Texas with his Tier 3 Super while the Pummel Pillar was active, the stage would play at an inappropriate pace.
  • Fixed an animation issue where Texas would suddenly back up after a successful back throw.
  • Texas can now take a counter hit during Rodeo Run.
